In the world of laptop gaming, it doesn’t get much smaller than the MSI Gaming GS63 or the Asus ROG FX503. These two laptops are very close in price and size (almost identical in fact), so it might be tough to decide which one to get based on their specs alone. Let’s take a closer look at these two gaming laptops and see how they differ from each other and whether or not they’re worth your money.
The MSI 15-inch laptop is a sleek, lightweight system with a fast Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics that are perfect for gaming at 1920×1080. The Razer Blade is an attractive, powerful machine with a high-resolution display, but the Ghost Pro 4K has the same specs and resolution, plus it can be overclocked to provide even more power.
Design and Build Quality
The gaming laptop that I would recommend is the MSI Gaming GS63. It has a high-quality design with a built in fingerprint reader and it has a nice, lightweight feel to it. The Asus Rog Fx503, on the other hand, is bulkier and heavier than the MSI gaming laptop. And because it’s so bulky, I found that the battery life was not as good as some of the laptops listed above.
The screen on the Asus Rog Fx503 is also not as bright or colorful as some of the others listed above. The screens are one of my favorite features about laptops so this made me a little sad about my choice to purchase this laptop. But if you’re looking for something cheaper and more affordable, then this might be what you’re looking for!
Keyboard, Trackpad, and Input Devices
The keyboard and trackpad on the GS63 are both above average. The keyboard has a good feel to it, and the trackpad is accurate. The input devices are one of the strongest points of this laptop in my opinion. The backlit keyboard is nice because typing can be done in dark rooms without any issues. Also, the touchpad feels good when using it as well.
This laptop is a great choice if you’re looking to game and need connectivity options. The MSI Gaming GS63 offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB 3.1 Type C, and USB 3.0 port connections, so you can stay connected wherever you go.
Internal Hardware and Cooling
The GPU in the MSI GS63 is a NVIDIA GTX 1060, while the GPU in the ASUS is a GTX 1050 Ti. The CPU in the ASUS is an Intel Core i7-7700HQ, while the CPU in the MSI is an Intel Core i5-7300HQ. The price difference between these two laptops is about $800 (MSRP).
Screen and Speakers
The first thing you will notice about the MSI is that the screen size is 15.6 inches, which is a little on the smaller side. The good news is that it has a resolution of 1920×1080, and has one of the narrowest bezels around with just 1.2 centimeters on each side of the screen. This allows gamers to immerse themselves in their games without sacrificing any visual real estate or having too much space taken up by unimportant information.
Graphics Card, Battery, and CPU Performance
The quickest way to figure out which is the better gaming laptop is by looking at their graphics card, battery and CPU performance. The MSI Gaming GS63 has a GPU that features the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of VRAM. It also has a battery that lasts up to 6 hours and is powered by a 7th gen Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM.
Value Comparison (MSRP)
The MSRP on the MSI Gaming GS63 is $1,599.99 and the MSRP on the Asus ROG FX503 is $999.99. The difference in price comes with a difference in hardware, specifically with graphics cards and processors. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU on the MSI Gaming GS63 offers users more than enough power to play games at high settings while still producing smooth gameplay without any lag or glitches.
