This was a week where the Mustangs couldn’t get anything going. They were held to just 86 runs in their first two games of the week against the Thunderbolts, and after winning game three by four wickets, they lost the final two games by an innings each. The Thunderbolts had three players make their debuts for them.
Outfielder Nyron Nosworthy opened the batting for them, and middle-order batsman Khary Pierre came in at number five for them. They also had Batsman Matthew Keil return to domestic cricket after being absent for almost four years.
The Mustangs have now lost four games on the trot, and with just one win from their last 13 games – their longest losing streak since early-December – it looks like they are running out of time to escape from last place.
Mustangs beat Strikers by five wickets
The Mustangs defeated the Strikers by five wickets in the second match of the week. The Mustangs got off to a blistering start as they scored 242 in the first 20 overs, with opener Dwayne Smith scoring a hundred and a fifty for them.
The Mustings were all out for 242 in the 49th over, with Dwayne Smith scoring his fifty in the fourth over of the innings, and with captain Jason Mohammed taking 2/45 from his overs. He was ably supported by off-spinner Qaasim Ali who took 2/28 from his overs. The Mustangs chasing 239 in the 42nd over, and they needed 16 runs off the last over to win.

The Strikers had two openers in their line-up, and they set off at a lightning pace, scoring 202 runs off the first 10 overs, with opener Asif Ali scoring a fifty and a fifty for them. Mustangs lose to Thunderbolts by an innings
The Mustangs lost two games in a row for the first time this season, as the Thunderbolts beat them by an innings in the first game of the week. The Thunderbolts scored 315 for 4 in 50 overs in the first game, and they did it with ease as they chased down the Mustangs’ target of 170 in the 55th over.
Outfielder Philo Quiney scored a fifty and a fifty for them, and he was ably supported by off-spinner Nicholas White who took 2/19 from his overs. Philo Quiney and Nicholas White were the only two players to take two wickets each for the Thunderbolts.
The Thunderbolts got off to a steady start, as they were all out for 200 in the 39th over, with Philo Quiney and Nicholas White scoring fifties for them in the first two overs. When the Mustangs’ skipper Jason Mohammed was dismissed for 50 in the 43rd over, they were all out for 166 in the 55th over.
